Health Professions Students

The Indiana AHEC Network supports students in health professions programs in many different ways! Our centers have developed programs such as interprofessional education activities, lunch and learns, and simulation days for students to participate in. Our regional AHEC staff also mentor students and offer support for students while they are completing their programs.

Clinical Rotations

Clinical experiences give students the opportunity to rotate in community-based clinics on interprofessional teams, as well as learn about rural and underserved populations. The Indiana AHEC Network places medical and allied health students in clinical rotations all over the state, with a focus on primary care and rural/underserved areas.

Many times, students complete AHEC clinical rotations in regions that are more than 45 minutes from their campus. AHECs may provide free housing for those students to live in while they are on their rotation at the clinic in the region so that the student does not have to travel as far each day. AHECs serve as the point of contact for the student in the region.
